Cloud

Cloud gave us a huge surprise when she started laying eggs! She’s a mix of olive egger rooster and wyandotte hen. I expected a basic, simple brown egg from her, but instead she gives us beautiful and large speckled olive colored eggs! We are breeding her back to Ross the Rooster, and I expect her babies to lay a beautiful range of olives and some dark browns, with lots of speckles!

Although she got the olive egger genes from her dad, Cloud also inherited quite a few features from her mama…a golden laced wyandotte. She has some beautiful black lacing on her grey feathers. She also has the rose comb and the thick wyandotte body type! Fat chickens are the cutest chickens!!! After her first round of eggs this silly girl went broody, which is also a wyandotte trait, at least in my experience, and that lasted a few weeks until I put her in broody jail to cool off! Since then, however, she generally lays about 5 eggs per week! I’m so thankful we kept Cloud on the farm, because she adds a lot of color to our rainbow egg basket and olive egger breeding program!
